Referring Your Patients With Confidence
We believe that addictions treatment must address the recovery of the “whole person”, rather than focusing only on the problem of addiction. We recognize addictions as bio-psycho-social-spiritual disorders that require a holistic approach in order for the patient to recover in all four key areas. We make it easy for you to refer patients by filling out and submitting the online Residential Services Referral Form.

Our program consists of three separate phases:
  1. Pre-treatment—comprehensive assessment, concurrent disorder, stabilisation and intervention if necessary
  2. Core residential treatment program—1 month (and up to 6 weeks for cocaine addiction or dual diagnosis)
  3. Continuing care—weekly counselling, case management and community phase support for a full 11 months
The Newgate Program Phases

ProfessionalsPhase I—Recovery begins by identifying client needs through a comprehensive assessment, clinical diagnosis, and in some cases, an intervention. From this process, we develop an individualized treatment plan. We work with the referrer and provide consultation, support and education on addiction and the most appropriate course of action for the individual.

Phase II—Following assessment, clients participate in the one-month core program for addictions. This residential treatment component is common to all of our programs. On occasion residential treatment is expanded to six weeks for patients recovering from more severe addiction. Clients complete a number of self-examination modules that help our counsellors identify and develop treatment plans and coping strategies for specific issues. Counselling, group and individual therapies, peer support, family involvement and a structured daily schedule provide a strong, safe foundation for the recovery process.

Phase III—Once the client has successfully completed the core program, they enter the continuing care portion of the Newgate 180 program. This critical component ensures that patients benefit from counselling and therapy during their reintegration into everyday life. Relapse prevention strategies, behaviour modification and spiritual support play an important role in the community phase, as do case monitoring and ongoing workplace/family involvement.
